NEXT Platform

The overarching objective of the Netilion Extension Platform (NEXT) is to enable various stakeholders within the Endress+Hauser Group (Product Centers, Sales Centers, …) to efficiently develop their own IIoT-applications and/or integrate their existing IIoT-applications into the Netilion Platform.

To achieve this goal, NEXT serves as an internal developer platform, providing infrastructure that complements and enriches the existing Netilion ecosystem. These resources can be leveraged by developers and operators to build and deliver applications to Netilion’s end customers.

With NEXT, the development of the E+H IIoT offering can be accelerated, resulting in a streamlined and harmonized customer experience. Developers and operators within the E+H Group can focus on meeting their customers’ specific needs, supported by NEXT’s infrastructure and seamless connection to Netilion. The standardized framework offered by NEXT streamlines application development, allowing developers to concentrate on creating value-added features without reinventing the wheel.

Supported Development Models

  1. Development by entities of the E+H Group company: Internal teams can harness NEXT to create tailored solutions aligned with their specific needs.
  2. Outsourced development by externals: External development on behalf of E+H entities can leverage NEXT for efficient application development.
  3. Development by Digital Solutions on behalf of other E+H Group company: Digital Solutions teams can use NEXT to build applications for other E+H Group companies.

Supported Application Categories

  • Custom (Edge) Device Integration: Custom edge devices process complex field data inputs. The applications that process these inputs will be called DIS, Data Input Services)
  • Virtual sensor implementations: Virtual sensor services that require dedicated components to perform special computations are called DAS, Data Algorithm Services)
  • Third-party system integration: A third-party system integration may require standard components such as the existing Netilion Connect OPCUA Server or a custom integration protocol, and those can be supported by DOS components, Data Output Services)
  • Interactive Web Applications

Platform overview

In summary, the NEXT platform provides the means to ingest data to Netilion and to process data in downstream applications. Apart from infrastructure, the NEXT team also provides consulting/coaching on implementation topics towards entities in the E+H Group.
